(Robert Short/CBC)Nova Scotians can now book appointments to receive this season’s COVID-19 and flu vaccines.Public Health recommends the vaccines for those aged six months and older.“Vaccination against COVID-19 and influenza helps protect you, your loved ones and your community and supports a safer, healthier respiratory illness season,” Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, said in a news release.“It’s important for people at increased risk of severe illness to get vaccinated, including older adults and anyone of any age with chronic health conditions. The care providers who support them should also get vaccinated to help increase the protection for these individuals.”Appointments can be scheduled through the province’s online booking system, through the YourHealthNS app, by contacting a primary care provider or by calling 1-833-797-7772.Those who are 65 or older can receive an enhanced flu vaccine, which provides better protection for older adults. Families can book up to six people for a single appointment.It is recommended that people wait at least three months after having COVID-19 or getting a COVID-19 vaccine before getting the new vaccine.MORE TOP STORIES
