(Atlético Ottawa/Facebook)Atlético Ottawa’s Sam Salter, who broke the Canadian Premier League record for goals in a season this year, will play soccer in Sweden next year.Salter is moving to Göteborgs Atlet- och Idrottssällskap (GAIS) in January, both teams announced Wednesday. The 25-year-old from Laval, Que., is in his third season with Atlético. His 19 goals and counting this season set a new benchmark for the seven-year-old league, helping Atlético secure either first or second seed in the CPL playoffs with two games to play.“This is a bittersweet moment,” Salter said in the Atlético news release.”I’m leaving a place that has become my home away from home, but it’s also one of immense joy and pride. GAIS is an excellent team, really competitive, with a track record of supporting the growth of players they bring in.”Gothenburg’s GAIS is third in the 16-team Allsvenskan, the top tier of Swedish football, with four matches left. Former Atlético Ottawa fullback Matteo de Brienne joined the same Swedish side earlier this year, suiting up in 22 games so far.
