(Submitted by Lacey Lee McPhee)When Blayke MacLean was at school Friday, the eight-year-old realized that heavy rain and strong winds were bad for her planned Red Riding Hood costume, so she decided to brave the elements and go as a meteorologist.MacLean, who is from Sydney River, N.S., dreams of becoming a meteorologist. She loves reading books about weather and watching meteorologists report from the field during bad weather. “I like how it’s, like, blowing and there’s trash everywhere and it’s just funny,” she said.The decision paid off as she was often the only person trick or treating on some streets, which resulted in her getting a ridiculous amount of candy. One person even gave her an entire bowl of treats.MacLean’s costume consisted of things like news articles and caution tape on her clothing, as well as a microphone that identified her as working for the Cape Breton Weather Network.
