The library will be open all the other days, though, including Monday, April 21, so keep reading to find out all the exciting things happening at 97 Queen St.Community volunteer tax clinics will continue Thursdays and Saturdays until April 26 (Happy Birthday Linda C!). We have a weekly fibre arts club on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. Drop in with your project and chat with like-minded fibre artists. Paint club is the same model only with painting and happens every other Monday at 1 p.m. — next sessions are April 21 and May 5. More painting will happen on April 27 at 2 p.m. with talented student painters guiding participants. Art will be collected and used to raise money for local shelters. Registration is required and ages 13+ are welcome. Call 368-4642 to register.Two upcoming opportunities for flower-making include April 19 at 10 a.m. when you can crochet or knit poppies to add to the Stratford poppy project. Supplies and teachers on hand. At Crafternoon on May 14 at 1 p.m., you can make paper hyacinths. Craft whatever strikes your fancy at our art hive with Creative P.E.I. on May 7 at 5 p.m.Lots of these events happen in our Makerspace and now you can have the Makerspace all to yourself for crafting, sewing, painting, cricutting and more. April 23 at 6 p.m. or April 29 at 12 noon, come for an orientation session to the space and equipment available. After the orientation you will be certified and able to book the space for personal use.Article contentCLOTHING SWAP AND MOREMay 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is the annual WildChild-Pride P.E.I. clothing swap. Gently-used items like clothing, books, and toys will be available and there will be a mending corner. May 6 at 5:30 p.m. Island EMO will provide emergency preparedness information and the FireSmart program. May 7 at 6:30 p.m. learn how to get your P.E.I. driver’s licence. Seniors café is May 15 at 1 p.m. and will feature a presentation on emotional resilience and mindfulness by representatives from GEBIS.Coming movie attractions include “The Wild Robot” on April 21 at 2 p.m. for all ages (schools are closed but we’re open) and “The Royal Tenenbaums” on May 6 at 1 p.m. — popcorn provided for all shows.Regular weekly programs in the children’s library are available for all children’s ages. Our Wiggle Giggle Read program for ages 0-12 months is Mondays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at 2 p.m. Toddler Time for ages 1-3 and their grownups is Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at 11 a.m. Graduates of this program can make their way to Family Storytime for ages 3-5 (and grown-up) on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and ages 0-5 are welcome to Saturday Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Ages 6-12 are invited to drop in every Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. for Creative Kids Club with crafts and activities.Article contentSpecial events for kids include Together We Drum on May 2 (PD Day!) at 10 a.m. Join local author Willie Poll for a morning of fun and learn about Indigenous traditions and drumming. May 12 at 5:30 p.m. will feature Intro to 3-D printing for ages 6-12.PD days are for teens too! Ages 13-18 are invited to Cookies and Crafts on May 2 at 4 p.m. Chef Nation is on Tuesdays from 3-6 p.m. where you can learn to prepare simple meals and snacks.Beth Clinton is the regional librarian with the provincial library service.
