(John Woods/The Canadian Press)A body recovered from the Red River near the University of Manitoba earlier this week has been identified, Winnipeg police say.Police said Friday that remains recovered from the Red River near University Crescent and Markham Road belonged to a woman and her death was not considered criminal in nature.Winnipeg police found human remains in the area Tuesday around 1:30 p.m., after receiving reports of suspicious circumstances, they said earlier this week.Officers and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service helped recover the remains.The missing persons unit notified the family of the woman’s death, police said in a news release.They did not release her name.
