(Travis Golby/CBC)A cat was found dead inside a building in Winnipeg’s Weston area after an early morning fire on Tuesday.Everyone else in the 1½-storey building, which housed a store on the main level and a residence above, got out safely, a news release from the City of Winnipeg said.No other injuries were reported. Fire crews were called just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday to the building at the corner of Logan Avenue and Blake Street.They found heavy smoke and flames and began fighting the fire from the exterior, the release said.A cat died in a fire inside a building that housed a store and residence on Tuesday. (Travis Golby/CBC)Once conditions improved, crews went inside and extinguished the flames from the interior.The fire was declared under control about an hour later.The cause of the blaze remains under investigation and damage estimates are not yet available, the release said.
