Article contentArticle contentThe club president is Pat DeWolfe, who also takes on the role as head coach, teaching new members about the sport.Article contentArticle content“It’s a great sport,” said DeWolfe. “We train to get stronger, learn new positions, and we teach safety so that nobody breaks an arm in the process. Similar to chess, it’s about strategy. You see your opponent’s strategy in one match, come up with your own counter, and try it out in the next one. Article content“Three of our members are provincial champions, which I’m very proud of.”Article contentDeWolfe teaches the newer members about the sport, from safety to basics, across many different weight classes.Article content The Pictou County Armwrestling Club accepts anyone ages 5 and up who is interested in the sport. Pat DeWolfeArticle content“We’re always looking for new members,” DeWolfe said. “We are a very welcoming community that likes to just hang out and have fun. Article contentPeople like be able to test their strength and technique against others, all in the name of fun. I usually have Sundays off, so that’s when we practice. With any changes, I post on our Facebook page.”Article contentThe next major competition is the Atlantic Canadian Championship on Apr. 11, of next year.
