(Tyson Koschik/CBC)A 52-year-old man has been charged in a crash that killed an 18-year-old man in Winnipeg almost two years ago. Winnipeg police were called about a serious collision at the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Cecil Street on Jan. 13, 2024.An 18-year-old pedestrian from Winnipeg was taken in critical condition to hospital, where he later died, police said at the time.They said they believed the man ran in front of the vehicle, which was going southeast on Notre Dame. The driver of the vehicle stopped, called police and provided emergency medical care until an ambulance arrived after the collision, police said in a January 2024 news release.Police submitted the collision analysis of the crash to Manitoba Crown’s office, who authorized charging the driver with careless driving causing death under the Highway Traffic Act, Winnipeg police said in a Thursday news release.The driver of the vehicle was arrested on Tuesday and has since been released on an appearance notice to attend court at a later date.
