(David Bell/CBC)RCMP say one person is dead following a crash between an SUV and a tanker truck on the Alaska Highway north of Fort St. John, B.C., Monday afternoon.Emergency crews responded to the collision around 1:42 p.m. PT Monday, at the intersection of the Alaska Highway and 269 Road, about one kilometre north of the city.Police say the SUV was heading southbound when the driver “failed to stop for a red light and collided with the tanker truck,” which was making a left turn onto the highway.The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. RCMP are not releasing the victim’s age or gender, but say their family has been notified.Parts of the highway were closed and traffic was detoured for several hours while authorities investigated.It is not yet clear if any spill occurred as a result of the crash.
