(Stefan Malloch/Shutterstock)Strong demand to buy tickets for the record-setting $2 million Grey Cup 50/50 draw on Sunday overwhelmed the lottery’s provider and caused duplicate purchases for some customers, says the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation. The draw for the winning numbers is delayed until the provider sorts out which tickets are legitimate and the 50/50 is reconciled, the foundation said in a statement. The 50/50 reached $2,005,107 by the end of Sunday night’s Grey Cup game, with the eventual winner taking home half the pot. It’s the largest single-game 50/50 prize in CFL history.“The surge of traffic caused a small percentage of purchasers to be charged multiple times,” the foundation said.A “small percentage” of people who bought tickets were affected and all duplicate charges will be refunded, the foundation said. It’s not yet known how duplicate orders will affect the total prize amount, or when the draw will take place. The Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation is the team’s charity that supports education, health and amateur football initiatives in the province.
