Photo by Keith Gosse/The TelegramAn elderly woman, reportedly in her nineties, had to be rescued from her SUV Thursday morning after it overturned in the parking lot of an apartment building in St. John’s. The incident happened just after 10:30 a.m. on Bay Bulls Road when the vehicle struck the building and then crashed into a fence and rolled onto its side. SJRFD firefighters had to stabilize the SUV before breaking out the rear window to free the woman. Firefighters then assisted the driver out and into the care of waiting NL Health paramedics. The apartment sustained relatively minor damage while the SUV and fence had significant damage. The woman’s injuries were not considered serious and the RNC is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
