When firefighters arrived at the condominium on the east end of Duckworth Street, fire and smoke could be seen coming from the parking garage and some residents were already outside.Article contentAs the blaze grew, the inside of the building and stairwells filled with smoke, trapping some residents in their higher-level units. Firefighters brought the residents outside to their balconies and where they were carefully transferred to the bucket of a ladder truck and lowered to the ground.Article contentPlatoon chief Mike Hall told the Telegram the incident could have been much worse if the building manager hadn’t been able to provide them with floor plan information and a master key to access all of the units to search for people.Article contentThe firefighter was injured during an additional search when he fell about 6 metres through a flight of steps.
