(Tom Summer/CBC)RCMP have arrested a second suspect in connection with a series of shootings in Fort St. John, in northeast B.C., which they believe is linked to gang violence across the region.Police say the individual was arrested by the city’s street enforcement team Wednesday just before noon after an investigation linked him to a round of shootings in the past week which have seen two injured and placed the public at risk. “The man was found to be wearing body armor and in possession of a loaded firearm,” RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson wrote in a release. “RCMP secured the residence where the male was found to be coming from and located further firearms and evidence that the recent shootings are related to gang-violence in town.” There have been at least three shooting incidents in Fort St. John in the past week, police say.The first was on Oct. 24 at 5:30 a.m. in a residential area on the 9600 block of 96th Ave. where there had been an exchange of gunfire, but no injuries reported.The second was on Oct. 28 at the Peace Country Mobile Home Park at 12:56 p.m., where one person was arrested and a vehicle was seized. That suspect remains in custody.And the third happened Oct. 29 at 3:46 a.m., on the 9500 block of 96th Ave. where one person was injured.Sgt. Ian Rissanen of Fort St. John RCMP said he believes the investigation may have prevented another shooting from happening.Investigations are ongoing and police have asked anyone with information to come forward.
