(Jean-Sebastien Marier/Radio-Canada)Gatineau, Que., police say one of their constables has been charged with assault and uttering threats after several weeks of investigating.In a French news release on Tuesday, the service said its professional standards team was told on June 9 that one of its officers may have broken the law during an “intervention.” They did not share further details.That team started an investigation, which led to another investigation by provincial prosecutors.On Aug. 7, Gatineau police said prosecutors approved charges of assault and uttering threats to kill or harm someone against Const. Jonathan Lévesque.The accused has been suspended with pay since the investigations began, said Gatineau police, and will remain suspended throughout the legal process.
