(Matéo Garcia-Tremblay/Radio-Canada)The union representing some workers with the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) say they plan to strike next week over issues including pay and job security.ATU 1557, which represents about 50 workers including mechanic supervisors and trainers with the Gatineau, Que., transit agency, said during a news conference on Tuesday its members plan to walk off the job starting Monday, Oct. 20.ATU 1557 president Olivier Lachance said a strike could slow transit service or cause cancellations. He said the union’s members earn 20 to 25 per cent less in wages than workers in similar jobs across Quebec and in Ottawa.The STO told Radio-Canada it plans to respond during a news conference Wednesday morning.The union the STO have been without a collective agreement since the end of 2022.
