(RCMP)A 50-year-old man from Glace Bay, N.S., is facing 11 counterfeiting, firearms and drug charges involving more than $110,000 in fake bills.According to a news release, RCMP say border officials seized more than $30,000 in fake Canadian money in January, along with counterfeit holographic security stickers, when they found packages in Quebec and Ontario. The packages, sent from China, were bound for an address in Glace Bay.The stickers resemble security strips found on Canadian bills.Using a search warrant in February, the Mounties then raided a home in the Cape Breton community and found more than $80,000 in fake bills, as well as electronic devices, a gun and unlabelled prescription pills.This month, RCMP laid charges for: possession of counterfeit money. making counterfeit money. importing counterfeit money. buying instruments of counterfeiting. possession of instruments of counterfeiting. unsafe storage of a firearm. unauthorized possession of a firearm. possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized. possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking (3 counts). The Glace Bay man is due in provincial court in Sydney on Wednesday.
