She says the event is rooted in friendship and history.Article contentArticle content“It all started with an idea for a Christmas CD because we all like Christmas,” she recalls.Article contentAbout nine years ago a small group of friends gathered to discuss their love of Christmas music. The idea of creating a Christmas CD was born. Shortly thereafter, ‘Our Christmas Favourites’ came to life.Article content“We went in a studio to record it. It was professionally done. We were super proud of it,” LeBlanc says.Article contentThe name of the group who created the CD was Fortunate, “because we feel fortunate that we were able to get together,” says LeBlanc. The CD is available on Apple Music and Spotify.Article contentFrom that came the first concert, which was ultimately a CD release. The concert was so popular that it sold out and another one was added. The tradition continued and nine years later the annual concert is still a popular event for all ages.Article contentAudience members can expect to hear favourite seasonal songs, lots of upbeat holiday music and some classic Christmas tunes. The music – vocals and instruments – is performed by local singers and musicians.Article contentArticle content“It’s a really wide spectrum – something that everybody’s going to like. We have songs that are current right now, old favourites and classics, like Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Mariah Carey too,” LeBlanc says.Article content Monica Leblanc is a coordinator of and singer in the Christmas Classics concert coming up in Tusket. The show will offer some current, old and classic holiday music that all ages will enjoy. RONNIE D’ENTREMONTArticle contentThe family-friendly show runs about two hours. LeBlanc believes the event offers something very precious: joy, relaxation and maybe a spiritual uplifting.Article content“It’s super important,” she says. “We all need that. Sometimes it’s hard to find (time) to relax. Christmas music reaches a lot of people. It’s magical and people like to listen to familiar music. You can feel the connection, and we can feel it vibrate on stage. It’s so gratifying.”Article contentAnd the talent is phenomenal, she adds.Article content“We rehearse quite a bit.
