For public safety, the RCMP Northeast Traffic Services officer didn’t attempt to catch the driver as it would involve a high-speed chase.Article contentRoughly 15 minutes later, RCMP received a call about a Honda Civic that had flipped off the road in Big Pond and the driver had run to a nearby residence.Article contentThe police officer responded to the residence soon after the call and administered a breath analyzer on the driver who failed.Article contentCape Breton Regional Police assisted RCMP at the crash scene.Article contentThe 20-year-old man of Barra Head in Richmond County was transported to the RCMP North Sydney division where a blood alcohol test showed he was one and a half times over the legal limit.Article contentHe is facing impaired driving and stunting charges.
