(Don Somers/CBC)The trial of a man accused in the death of Megan Gallagher has begun at the Court of King’s Bench in Saskatoon.On Monday, Roderick Sutherland pleaded not guilty to manslaughter, unlawful confinement and offering an indignity to human remains.Gallagher, a 30-year-old mother, went missing more than five years ago in Saskatoon. She was last seen leaving her friend’s house on Sept. 19, 2020. Two years later, her body was found in the South Saskatchewan River.The trial began Monday morning with jury selection. The process lasted into the early afternoon, ending once 12 jurors and two alternates were chosen.Sutherland, dressed in a suit and tie, watched the proceedings carefully Monday morning. He is not in custody.Justice John Morrall is presiding over the trial, which is expected to last two weeks.
