Kate Bazeley set a record while winning her ninth Tely 10 title

It was a great day to run to get that record,” said Bazeley. “It was a hard record. Anne set the bar really high.  Article content“So, you needed good conditions. You needed to feel good. You needed everything to align.” Article contentArticle contentArticle contentFeeling goodArticle contentThe past couple of Tely 10s, Bazeley entered coming off injuries that hampered her training heading into the race. Article contentThere was no such hampering this time around, which helped her record push. That combined with the weather drove her towards the finish line. Article content“I came this morning. I haven’t been injured, I haven’t been sick, and the weather was good. So I was like, ‘it’s today or maybe never’,” said Bazeley. “So I just went out focused on just keeping focus, working hard and I got it.” Article content‘She’s a legend’Article contentWaiting for Bazeley at the finish line was Levi Moulton, the Tely 10’s men’s winner. Article contentThe pair embraced just moments after she crossed the finish line. Article content“(Bazeley’s) a legend,” said Moulton. “My whole life, I’ve looked up to her. I’m actually coaching her kids right now, and they’re just as remarkable as her.” Article contentMaybe one yearArticle contentIt’s already been a busy year for Bazeley. Article contentShe ran the Boston Marathon, finishing in a time of 2:39:33, and was the top overall finisher in a pair of local racers heading into the Tely. Article contentWith the women’s record set, Bazeley’s next Tely 10 goal is to win the race outright. Article content“Next year is to win the Tely overall, one year but I need the guys to slow down a little bit,” she said. Article content
