Born in Friesland, the Netherlands, he emigrated to Canada with his family in 1955.Article contentArticle contentIn 1980, Cupido settled in Canning with his wife, the late Wilhelmina ‘Willy.’ He was well known throughout the Valley for his kind nature and soft smile.Article contentAfter his wife’s passing in 2014, Cupido became in fixture in downtown Kentville, spending his days at the Half Acre Café, chatting with the locals and spending time with his friends.Article contentA prolific artist, Cupido was exceptionally talented, having paintings and drawings in numerous exhibitions, both in Canada and abroad. He also created murals in several Nova Scotia communities.Article contentIn 1999, he and Ron MacInnis created a children’s book called The Quest for the Magic Appletree. It is now out of print.Article contentSome of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the Wolfville Baptist Church, where Cupido was a member.
