Photo by FILE PHOTO /PostmediaConditional sentence for sexual assaultMurray James Wells, 71, of Martock, will serve a period of imprisonment in the community for committing a sexual assault.Wells changed his plea to guilty on Feb. 3. The matter was adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.On April 29, Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Wells a six-month conditional sentence order with house arrest for the first four months, to be followed by daily curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the remaining time. A charge of touching a person under the age of 16 for a sexual purpose was dismissed on April 29.Read More Kings and West Hants court report: April 29, 2025 Kings and West Hants court report: April 22, 2025 Kings and West Hants court report: April 15, 2025 Time deemed served, probationBriant William Greencorn, 39, of no fixed address, has been sentenced to time deemed served and probation after pleading guilty to four charges.They include failing to attend court as required; knowingly conveying a threat to cause death to an individual by pointing a gun; defrauding an individual of a value not exceeding $5,000; and failing to comply with a condition of a probation order, to make restitution through the court to the New Minas Walmart in the amount of $45.94 and to the New Minas Petro Canada in the amount of $82.Greencorn was present in provincial court in custody on April 28 when he pleaded guilty to the four charges. Judge Angela Caseley sentenced Greencorn to 45 days in custody for conveying a death threat and 15 days, to be served concurrently, for failing to attend court. Greencorn was given credit at time-and-a-half for 36 days spent remanded in custody, or 54 days, so the 45-day sentence was deemed served with nine days credit remaining.Article contentGreencorn was also sentenced to 18 months of probation on the four charges. As part of his probation, Greencorn has been ordered to pay $45.94 in restitution through the court to the New Minas Walmart; $82 to the New Minas Petro Canada; and $200 to the victim of the fraud charge.Greencorn committed the offences in Halifax on Nov. 16, 2022; in South Alton on June 21, 2023; in White Rock on April 2, 2024; and in Kentville between June 9 and Nov. 30, 2023.Another count of failing to comply with a condition of a probation order was withdrawn on April 29.Fined for impaired drivingMichael Todd Elliott, 56, of Wolfville, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours of ceasing to operate a conveyance.Elliott pleaded guilty to the charge on April 29. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Elliott $2,000 and imposed an 18-month driving prohibition against him.Elliott committed the offence in Windsor on Feb. 8. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Elliott gave blood alcohol readings of 120 and 110.A charge of operating a conveyance while his ability to do so was impaired by alcohol was withdrawn on April 29.Article content
