(Ryan Stelting)A man has been charged with second-degree murder after a fatal shooting in a residential neighbourhood of Burnaby, B.C., in 2021.The shooting happened near the 6200-block of McKee Street on Feb. 11, 2021, with officers responding just after 10 p.m. PT that day after bystanders heard gunshots and cries for help.Neal Pratap, 44, was found with multiple gunshot wounds and later died in hospital.It’s believed Pratap was meeting somebody in the area before he was killed.Now, 27-year-old Liam Reilly has been charged with second-degree murder in the case, which was the second fatal shooting in Burnaby in the preceding nine days.Police said at the time of the shooting that they believed Pratap was in the area meeting somebody. (Ryan Stelting)Reilly, a Vancouver resident, remains in custody, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).“This shooting took place in what is usually a very quiet neighbourhood in Burnaby,” says Sgt. Freda Fong in a statement. “Residents in the area were certainly surprised and left feeling uneasy after this incident.”At the time of the incident, police said they did not believe the shooting was random in nature.It happened blocks away from the park where Chris Kenworthy, 32, was found dead from gunshot wounds on Feb. 3, 2021.
