(CBC)A man has been charged with second-degree murder after a woman died and another was seriously injured during an attack outside a condo complex on Winnipeg’s St. Anne’s Road this weekend.Officers found two women outside of the building after a report of an assault at the complex in the road’s 600 block at around 1:15 a.m. Saturday, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release. Both women had serious upper-body injuries.Police say Nicole Micheline Fortier, 46, died after being transported to hospital. The other woman, 27, was hospitalized in unstable condition, but later stabilized.Police say the accused, 21-year-old Sonny Besskkaystare, had a prior relationship with Fortier. They say their investigation determined the other victim was randomly assaulted before Besskkaystare fled the scene, and had no connection to the man.Besskkaystare was arrested after a search of the area. He’s been charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault.
