(Michael McArthur/CBC)A mandatory water restriction order has been issued for residents who use municipal water services in West Hants Regional Municipality.The order, which came into effect on Thursday, prohibits the use of water for: Lawns or flowers. Sprinklers. Bathing or washing livestock and pets. Washing driveways, sidewalks, houses and vehicles (including RVs, ATVs and bikes). Filling swimming pools and hot tubs. A notice issued by the municipality on Thursday said the order was issued due to drought conditions, reduced levels in watersheds and no substantial precipitation expected in the long-range forecast.Anyone who violates the order may have their water service suspended, the notice says.The order will be in place until further notice. Is climate change to blame for Nova Scotia’s drought? Much of the province has been experiencing drought conditions this summer.West Hants is the latest municipality to implement restrictions. Other voluntary or mandatory restrictions have been implemented in Margaretsville, Antigonish, the Municipality of Colchester, Stewiacke, Stellarton, the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth, Queens and the Halifax Regional Municipality.
