Faro residents may experience some issues with their landlines on between the hours of 10 p.m. on April 24 and 2 a.m. on April 25. In a notice posted to the Yukon emergency updates page, the Yukon government said Northwestel has an outage planned overnight which may impact landlines and residents’ ability to call 911. The notice recommends that in case of emergency, residents should try calling 911 on whatever phone is available. Depending on the time of the call and the location, the call may be able to go through. However, if one cannot reach 911, they should call the 4444 local number for the health centre or use the black phone at the local health centre in cases of medical emergency. One can also approach an emergency vehicle on patrol for assistance, or try driving to the nearest hospital. In case of an emergency where police services would be required, residents are advised to report to the nearest RCMP station or detachment, or find an emergency vehicle on patrol.
