Article contentArticle contentWhen they arrived, they located the 53-year-old man about 100 meters from shore, in the water next to his deflated boat, with a second person in a kayak trying to assist him. Article contentThe kayaker, unfortunately, was unable to tow the man to shore but stayed with him until fire department water rescue personnel reached them with a tethered water rescue board. The man in distress was then towed back to shore with the tethered board, wrapped in blankets and assessed by paramedics before he was taken to hospital to be further evaluated. Article contentHe was conscious and alert and speaking to first responders before he left. Article contentAn official on scene said the outcome would have likely been much worse had the boater not been wearing a life-jacket.
