He is the youngest person to win the Glenn Gould School Concerto Competition and he won the Canadian Music Competition multiple times, including the grand prize award.Article contentArticle contentPorter received a bachelor of music at the Glenn Gould School in Woodbridge, Ont., and a masters of music from the University of Montreal. Porter also studied under Dang Thai Son in Montreal.Article contentHe went on to complete an artist diploma at Oberlin Conservatory as part of the Lake Como Fellow Program in Italy. In the spring of 2023, Porter completed his doctorate of music at the University of Montreal.Article contentChosen to represent Canada at Expo 2005 in Nagoya, Japan, he took part in a series of concerts along with soprano Measha Brueggergosman. Last year, Porter often performed alongside violinist Laurence Kayaleh and cellist Elizabeth Dolin in Toronto, including the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre at the Canadian Opera Company.
