(Francis Ferland/CBC)A problem with the overhead power system has closed two LRT platforms and disrupted service along Line 1, OC Transpo said Thursday. The defect in the support system for the line’s overhead wires was discovered around 8 a.m. Thursday just outside the line’s eastern tunnel entrance near uOttawa station, delaying the morning commute for many passengers.Specifically, the city said the problem is in one of the insulators that, according to a 2022 report into some of the line’s problems, helps connect overhead sections of electrical wiring. It caused the closure of a section of the track, as well as the eastbound platforms at Rideau and Parliament stations. Westbound platforms remained open for trains travelling in both directions.Troy Charter, the city’s interim general manager of transit, said the problem should be fixed overnight, and Line 1 should resume normal service by Friday morning.
