CanadaEnvironment Canada is warning that a low-pressure system will bring heavy rain, powerful winds and the possibility of snow to parts of southern and central Saskatchewan this weekend. Environment Canada issues a special weather statement for most of the provinceCBC News · Posted: Oct 11, 2025 5:24 PM EDT | Last Updated: October 11Environment Canada says a low pressure system approaching on Saturday night will bring heavy rain into parts of southern Saskatchewan. (Pictureguy)Residents across much of southern and central Saskatchewan are being warned to prepare for a major shift in the weather this weekend, with rain, strong winds and even some snow in the forecast. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for several regions, including Regina, Fort Qu’Appelle, Estevan, Weyburn, Yorkton, and Moosomin, along with areas around Melfort and Nipawin. A low pressure system is expected to move into the province Saturday night, bringing widespread rain. A total of 30 to 60 millimeters could fall by Monday afternoon. By Sunday afternoon or evening, temperatures are expected to dip, causing rain to mix with snow in some areas. As a result, Environment Canada says there’s also a chance of snow accumulating overnight Sunday. The system will also bring strong winds, with gusts of up to 80 km/h possible in parts of the province.Once the system passes, temperatures are expected to drop into the single digits for much of the week ahead. Environment Canada says the exact track of the system remains uncertain, meaning the areas receiving the heaviest precipitation could still shift. The timing of the rain-to-snow transition also remains unclear, adding to uncertainty about how much snow might fall and where. Residents are being asked to monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared for changing conditions. More information and updates can be found at weather.gc.ca.
