The Brigus Volunteer Fire Brigade and NL Health Services personnel attended the scene to assist.Article contentArticle contentThe driver, a 56-year-old man, showed signs of alcohol impairment and failed a roadside breath test.Article contentArticle contentHe was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Bay Roberts RCMP detachment, where he provided further breath samples above the provincial limit, but below the criminal threshold for impaired driving.Article contentFor having a blood alcohol concentration above the provincial limit, his licence was suspended and the vehicle was seized and impounded.Article contentOperating a vehicle of any kind while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a choice that poses an unnecessary and unacceptable risk to your safety and the safety of others. If you suspect a driver is operating a vehicle while impaired, immediately call 911 and be prepared to provide a description of the vehicle, including a licence plate if possible, and the vehicle’s current location.Article content
