The investigation led officers to identify a suspect as a drug transporter and monitor his movements, Supt. Don Moser, senior operations officer for the detachment, said Tuesday. Article contentArticle contentArticle contentThe suspect travelled to Quebec between Sept. 27-29, according to police. Photo by TIM KROCHAKArticle contentArticle contentMoser described the discovery of the hidden compartment as unique for the region.  Article contentArticle content“So, unusual, I would say, in the Nova Scotia, HRM environment, but we do know they’re likely in use and have been in use in other parts of Canada.” Article contentMoser said being able to stop the shipment could be a major disruption to the drug trade. Article content“To have been able to intercede on that is a significant action by law enforcement,” he said. “I would go out on a limb to say it will be significant. . . . The drug trade is something that we’re always working hard to interrupt for public safety reasons.” Article contentExile Antonino Sandulu, 38, has been charged with two counts of drug trafficking and was released by the court. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Dec 12. Article contentThe investigation remains ongoing; however, police said they are not looking for additional suspects at this time.
