There will be a free barbecue, fries, cupcakes, games for the kids, and music by Rachel Davis and Darren McMullen.Article contentArticle contentArticle content“We have volunteers who show up week after week to help with the canteen or fix a broken railing or clean up the park”, says Nancy Cronin, volunteer co-ordinator. “We’re a very resourceful community, but many hands make light work, and we need all the help we can get. And we always have fun together.”Article contentLocated on the Bras d’Or Lake at 9685 Kempt Head Rd. in Ross Ferry, the provincial park is leased to the society under a special agreement that sees the site entirely funded and managed by community volunteers who hold events and raise money to maintain the park on the site of the former ferry that once between Ross Ferry and Big Harbour across the Great Bras d’Or Channel.Article contentThe site features a boat launch, picnic tables and covered picnic shelters, a children’s playground, outdoor fitness gym, walking trail and free public WiFi.Article contentOn Sundays during the summer, the park offers a canteen service and hosts the Ross Ferry Farmers Market for special events.Article contentFor more information and a calendar of events, visit www.rossferrymarinepark.ca.Article contentArticle content
