Photo by Keith Gosse/The TelegramA woman was sent to hospital following a serious single-vehicle crash Sunday morning that left the engine of her car several metres away from the damaged vehicle.The incident happened just before 8 a.m. on Tuckers Hill Road in St. Philip’s when the car, reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed, crashed into trees at the front of a property in the area.The impact destroyed the front end of the vehicle, with the engine being torn away and rolling onto a nearby lawn.Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s Volunteer Fire Department firefighters were called to the scene, eventually hosing the vehicle down with foam to prevent any fires.The road was closed in the area to facilitate an investigation.The woman’s injuries were not considered life-threatening and more details will be provided as they become available.
