The statement was upgraded to a warning around 6 a.m. on Sunday around Ottawa-Gatineau, Smiths Falls and Belleville.In places where the warning is in effect, there could be between 10 and 20 cm of snow, with snowfall rates reaching up to 5 cm an hour.East of the warning — along the St. Lawrence River stretching down to Kingston — the special weather statement was updated to note that up to 10 cm of snow could fall and there’s a risk of freezing rain and ice pellets. West of the warning — in the Renfrew, Pembroke and Bancroft area — the special weather statement is still in place, warning of up to 15 cm of snow. While flakes were spotted around Bancroft last week, Ottawa’s international airport weather station hasn’t measured snow since mid-April.Environment Canada asks drivers to be prepared for slippery roads and adjust plans and techniques accordingly.With files from Andrew Foote and Gabrielle Huston
