McNutt, who is not in custody, was scheduled to be arraigned on the charge Thursday in Shubenacadie provincial court.Article contentOn June 23, SIRT issued a news release saying McNutt had been charged with sexually assaulting a woman he knew in May 2024. His arraignment on that charge is set for Aug. 11, also in Shubenacadie provincial court.Article contentMcNutt grew up in Cumberland County and played pro basketball in Europe for several seasons before joining the RCMP in 2021.Article contentThe six-foot-eight officer was a member of the East Hants detachment until January 2024, when he was suspended after a woman alleged she had been sexually assaulted in early 2023 by an officer she knew.Article contentRCMP referred the matter to SIRT, which opened an investigation. The agency announced last July that McNutt had been charged with three counts of sexual assault and single counts of overcoming resistance by choking and uttering threats.Article contentArticle contentSIRT alleges McNutt committed those crimes in Enfield between Dec. 31, 2022, and Feb. 9, 2023, while off duty. McNutt pleaded not guilty to the charges last November and will stand trial in Shubenacadie this October.Article contentSources say that complainant is also the alleged victim in the latest charge. SIRT alleges the offence was committed between Jan. 1 and Jan. 31, 2023.Article contentLast November, Cumberland County RCMP laid two charges of sexual assault against McNutt. The offences were allegedly committed against a woman in Northport, Cumberland County, on July 31, 2019, more than two years before McNutt joined the Mounties.Article contentA December 2024 RCMP news release said the complainant had met McNutt through mutual friends a couple of weeks before the alleged incidents.Article contentMcNutt has also pleaded not guilty to the Cumberland County matters. That trial is scheduled for January 2026 in Amherst provincial court.
