Thanksgiving in Manitoba: Here’s a list of openings, closings on the long weekend

ManitobaSome businesses and services will be closed on Oct. 13 when many Manitobans celebrate the Thanksgiving long weekend. Here is what will be open and closed on Monday. (Wavebreakmedia/Shutterstock)Some businesses and services will be closed on Oct. 13, as many Manitobans celebrate the Thanksgiving long weekend. Here’s what will be open and closed on Monday: Grocery and liquor stores A number of grocery and liquor stores will be open on Monday if you need to make a last-minute food or alcohol run ahead of Thanksgiving dinner. All Liquor Mart locations in Winnipeg and Brandon will be open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, except at True North Square. That store will be closed for the holiday. Liquor stores across rural Manitoba will remain open Monday, but hours will vary depending on location. All Liquor Mart hours can be found on its website. Many grocery stores will be open for regular or reduced hours on Monday. Check your local grocery store’s company website or call the shop for more information. Malls and shoppingIn Winnipeg, Garden City Shopping Centre, Kildonan Place, St. Vital Centre, Polo Park and Outlet Collection Winnipeg will all be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday. Grant Park Shopping Centre will be open from noon until 5 p.m. On Monday, Shoppers Mall in Brandon will be open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.Activities and attractions Most recreation centres in Winnipeg will be closed on Monday, but a handful will be running on reduced hours. The Pan Am Pool is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Margaret Grant Pool: is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex will be open from 2 p.m. to  6 p.m.Weather permitting, Winnipeg’s Crescent Drive, Kildonan Park and Windsor Park municipal golf courses will stay open over the long weekend, according to the city’s website.All public libraries in Winnipeg will be closed on Monday.The Assiniboine Park Zoo will be running regular hours — 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. — over the long weekend. The Children’s Museum will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada will be open from 10 a.m. to  5 p.m.The Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the Manitoba Museum and the Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq are closed. Fall suppers will be happening all across the province this long weekend, from Winnipeg to The Pas. Visit the Travel Manitoba website for more information about community dinners in your area. Transit On Monday, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule. Brandon Transit will also be following a Sunday schedule, with buses running on the hour from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.Garbage and recyclingGarbage collection will run as normal for Winnipeggers who get their recycling, garbage and waste collection taken on Mondays. The Brady Road landfill will be open for residential customers between 5:30 a.m. to  8 p.m., while the Brady 4R depot is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.The Pacific and Panet 4R depots will both be closed on Monday. Government servicesMost federal, provincial and municipal government offices will be closed on Monday.
