Now, they have their sights set on hosting their first-ever playoff game at Scotiabank Centre.Before a sellout crowd at the Halifax arena, the Thunderbirds defeated the San Diego Seals 13-10 Saturday night to improve to 10-6 on the season, good for third overall in the NLL standings.Coupled with Colorado’s loss to Buffalo, the Thunderbirds clinched a playoff spot. Dawson Theede and Thomas Hoggarth each potted a pair of goals.Drew Hutchison earned the victory in relief of Warren Hill after Halifax fell behind 5-2 with 4:26 remaining in the first quarter. Hutchison made 39 saves while only allowing five goals in nearly 50 minutes of work.The Thunderbirds flipped the script in the second quarter, outscoring San Di3ego 6-2 to take a two-goal lead into the intermission.It was the final home game of the regular season for the Thunderbirds, who hit the road for the last two games of the campaign. They visit the league-leading Buffalo Bandits this Saturday and wrap up on Friday, April 18 in Toronto against the Rock.Article content
