(Sam Farley/CBC)A judge has scheduled trial dates for the man accused of killing Sheri Lynn Sabattis of Oromocto First Nation nearly a year ago.Jared Smith’s trial on a charge of second-degree murder will begin Sept. 14, 2026, Court of King’s Bench Justice Terrence Morrison said Monday.Sabattis’s body was found inside a home in the Wolastoqey community on April 27.Family and supporters of Sabattis attended the proceeding Monday at the Burton courthouse, including Oromocto First Nation Chief Shelley Sabattis, the victim’s sister. Sabattis was found dead inside a home in Oromocto First Nation on April 27, 2024.
