Admission is free for others, too, but a $10 donation to the Poppy Fund is requested.Article contentBecause the official renaming and monument unveiling ceremony at the No. 2 Construction Battalion Athletic Facility is happening the day before, the concert will begin with selections from World War I.Article contentThe second section of the concert will feature music from the era of World War II. The third set is a tribute to all veterans and soldiers. Both bands will have their own featured selections, and will join together for others.Article contentThe ‘Highland Salute to Veterans’ concert was once an annual event for the Truro band. It’s returning this year after a short hiatus.Article contentHenderson spoke to the importance of recognizing Veterans’ Week with this concert.Article content“Veterans’ Week sometimes gets swallowed up in a lot of other stuff that’s going on this time of the year, leading up to Christmas, and it’s just after Halloween and all that,” he said.Article content“When we set up to do these in the first place, it was to try to create a public event that is not quite the same as Remembrance Day, but which provides some focus on people who served the country.”Article content
