(CBC)RCMP have charged two men who fled from police during an attempted arrest in Pictou County last week.According to a news release Monday, officers who responded on Oct. 23 to a report of a possible impaired driver in McLellans Brook, N.S., located the vehicle on MacKenzie Road and determined while speaking to the driver and passenger that they were hauling a stolen trailer.When Mounties tried to arrest the driver, the men took off in the vehicle, driving it into a field and crashing into a tree before fleeing on foot.RCMP dog services, a drone operator and an emergency response team were deployed and one man was apprehended in a wooded area nearby, but the second suspect broke into a home on MacKenzie Road and stole an SUV from the property, the release said.He was arrested after the SUV was located on Highway 102 and disabled remotely using its OnStar vehicle security system.A 34-year-old man from Truro Heights, N.S., now faces 12 charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, impaired operation of a vehicle, flight from police and two counts of break and enter.A 34-year-old from Stratford, P.E.I., is charged with possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.The two men remain in custody pending a court appearance on Oct. 29.MORE TOP STORIES
