(Aleksandr Finch/Shutterstock)The latest measles exposure sites in southern Manitoba include a livestock auction, a school, a Dairy Queen and a hospital.Manitoba Public Health states anyone who visited the Dairy Queen at 785 Main St. in Winkler between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Oct. 24 and 28, or from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 25, should watch for symptoms until Nov. 15-19, according to the province’s latest update, released Friday.Someone with measles was also present at Boundary Trails Health Centre, between Winkler and Morden in the rural municipality of Stanley, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct. 26.The Grunthal Auction Service on Provincial Road 205 in the rural municipality of Hanover is another exposure site. Anyone who was there on Oct. 20 from 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Oct. 21 from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., or Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. should monitor for measles symptoms until Nov. 11-13.Garden Valley Collegiate and Northlands Parkway Collegiate, both in Winkler, also had exposures — Garden Valley from 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 22-23, and Northlands during the same times on Oct. 22.If you or someone you know was at any of these places, Public Health recommends reviewing your immunization record to ensure you are up to date with measles vaccinations.For anyone who may have been exposed and was born in 1970 or later, or those who haven’t received a vaccine or measles infection, the province recommends getting immunized and reducing exposure to others, particularly those with compromised immune systems, from the fifth day of exposure to the 21st day.Infants younger than six months, those with weakened immune systems or who are pregnant should avoid measles vaccination and instead contact public health to potentially obtain preventative treatment within six days of exposure.Updates on exposure sites can be found on Manitoba Public Health’s website.
