(Mark Crosby/CBC )A woman shot by an RCMP officer in the Halifax area has died from her injuries, the province’s police watchdog said Wednesday.The shooting occurred after RCMP responded Tuesday afternoon to a report of an assault at a residence on Cedar Lane in Eastern Passage.The Serious Incident Response Team said in a news release that when police arrived, they found a woman in possession of a knife.SIRT said the woman did not comply with an officer’s commands to drop the knife. Officers then discharged a stun gun.“The female continued to approach with a knife. An officer discharged their firearm, striking the female. She was pronounced deceased soon after,” said the release. No one else was injured. SIRT is investigating the incident. MORE TOP STORIES
