Article contentArticle content“I was molested every day for I don’t know how many years by Tony Humby.” Article contentThe complainant is the second of 11 to testify so far at the trial of 64-year-old Humby, who has pleaded not guilty to more than 70 charges of sexual violence, mainly against young males, from 2007 onwards. Article contentThe complainant told the court the abuse happened when he was between 16 and 18 years old and living in a youth shelter. He said he couldn’t remember how he had first met Humby, who picked him up every day downtown. They’d go to Humby’s home in the east end of the city, with Humby groping him in the vehicle and stopping to buy beer on the way. Article contentAt the residence, the complainant testified, Humby would give him enough alcohol to get him drunk, then coerce him into sexual acts. At one point, Humby took nude photos of him in the bathroom with a flip phone. Article content“Were you ever sober?” Badcock asked. Article contentArticle content“No,” the man replied. Article contentHe said he kept going back to Humby’s because he was addicted to alcohol by that point, and because he needed the money. Humby gave him between $20 and $50 every time he went over. Article contentAPPROACHED BY POLICEArticle contentThe complainant told the court of one time when he was waiting in the car while Humby went into a gas station to buy beer, and a police officer approached the vehicle. Article content“A lady officer came and asked me if I knew what I was doing and if I needed help,” he testified. “I said no because I still needed to get my beer for the day.” Article contentHe said he believed another police officer had gone into the store to speak with Humby, because when Humby came out he was flustered and spoke about how he was already connected to a case involving two young boys who lived in a group home.
