(CBC)A forensic psychiatrist has been granted more time to complete an assessment of a woman charged with stabbing a child on a street in downtown Halifax on Feb. 23. Elliott Chorny, 19, is charged with attempted murder and a weapons offence in relation to the attack. She was arrested shortly after the boy was stabbed.Chorny has been in custody since the arrest. She also faces an assault charge from an earlier incident.During a court appearance in March, Judge Alonzo Wright ordered a 30-day psychiatric assessment to see if Chorny should be held criminally responsible for the charges.In a letter to the judge that was read into the record on Friday, psychiatrist Dr. Risk Kronfli requested an extension after he found issues that “need to be further explored.”Wright agreed to the request.
