It provides up to six weeks of emergency shelter for survivors.Article content“It is that first step, but there needs to be more,” said Hagen.Article content“Everyone’s aware of this massive housing crisis (we are in) and there’s a lack of affordable housing, but then also safe housing is a difficult thing as well. So, for a lot of survivors, to find the emergency shelter is step one, but then there’s a gap of what’s next, or where they can go, if there’s a safe place to go.”Article contentArticle contentThe shelter is looking to bridge that gap by providing survivors with second-stage housing, where they can stay for up to two years.Article contentHagen said there will be eight housing units altogether.
