Yukon chief coroner calls inquest into death of First Nation child who died in care

The Yukon’s chief coroner has called an inquest into the death of a First Nation child whose family says he died while in care earlier this year. The Yukon Coroner’s Service says Angelo Sebastian Fully Evans is believed to have died in hospital in Dawson City, about a six-hour drive north of Whitehorse, on Jan. 26. A family member of Evans told APTN News the four-year-old was a Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation citizen. The inquest will determine the facts and circumstances surrounding Evans’s death and make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances.
