His obituary described his warm smile and kind heart. It said he effortlessly forged friendships with everybody, wherever he went. And he was described as someone who cared deeply about those he loved.Article contentIt was his compassionate and caring soul that inspired his family and friends to do something so that even after his death, the teenager could continue to impact the lives of others.Article contentAnd so, the Aiden Léo Goodwin Memorial Fund was formed.Article contentA Facebook description of the fund reads: “This fund serves as a tribute to our beloved son, Aiden. It offers a meaningful way for friends, family, and the community to celebrate Aiden’s life and maintain his legacy, fostering a sense of purpose and remembrance. A legacy of love.”Article content A lineup of spectators could have also served as some extra third-base coaches during the annual Aiden Léo Goodwin Memorial Softball Tournament. This year’s event raised over $14,000.Article contentThe money raised through the fund stays in the community. It helps local kids get involved in sports through Aiden’s Play It Forward. It supports families by helping with groceries. There are already grocery boxes lined up for youth and families through ÉcolesPlus/SchoolsPlus at the end of this month. That support will also continue throughout the year.Article contentArticle contentIn 2025, the fund provided $2,500 to help five children participate in sports through Aiden’s Play It Forward. It provided $1,900 for groceries to support families in local schools and community food pantries. The winning teams were Still Got It and Batmoms.Article contentThe two-day event was a team effort on and off the field, with the tournament organizers thanking the teams, volunteers, sponsors, families, friends, and everyone who came out to watch the games, who baked for and supported the canteen, who made donations, and who took part in the draws.
