Officers were told a woman driving a Honda Civic filled up and left without paying. Article contentThree days later, Halifax police received a report that a Honda Civic had been stolen. They were told that a man and woman borrowed the vehicle July 20 but didn’t return it. Article contentPolice continued to investigate over the following weeks as businesses in Sackville, Fall River, Upper Tantallon, Bedford, Hubbards and Greenwood reported thefts. Most noted the suspect leaving in the stolen Civic. Article contentA Halifax Regional Police officer attempted to stop the vehicle when he spotted it Aug. 10 in Dartmouth but the driver fled. The following day, East Hants District RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked at a store in Rawdon Gold Mines. Article contentArticle contentOfficers located the vehicle and found a man and woman sleeping inside. However, when officers attempted to arrest them, they managed to reverse into a police vehicle and fled the scene. Article contentThree days later, RCMP responded to a robbery at a business in Upper Tantallon. Officers later learned that the man and woman were in Falmouth. Article contentOn Wednesday, a joint RCMP team was able to safely arrest a man and woman in the 2100 block of Highway 1 in Falmouth. The stolen Civic was recovered in the Windsor area. Article contentBoth Spence and Grey appeared in Halifax provincial court Thursday. Article contentSpence has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Aug. 27.
