Published 11:02 am Tuesday, October 6, 2026 By William Koblensky Varela Local Journalism Initiative Northern News Service Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. has named Navarana Beveridge as its new CEO, four months after its last chief executive was suddenly out of the job. Beveridge was previously the senior director of strategic planning at the Qikiqtani Inuit Association. “There is much work ahead to strengthen our communities and empower Inuit, but I believe our greatest progress will come through partnership, working together across organizations and jurisdictions to achieve the best outcomes for Nunavut Inuit,” Beveridge said. Raised in Qaqortoq and Nuuk, Greenland, Beveridge has lived in Nunavut for 30 years and became an honourary consul for the Embassy of Denmark in the territory five years ago. The new CEO speaks Inuktitut, English, Kalaallisut and Danish. Her work includes negotiating the Mary River iron mine Inuit Impact Benefit Agreement and managing the creation of the research and training centre in Pond Inlet. NTI President Gloria Uluqsi said Beveridge has a strong track record. “She brings strong leadership experience, but just as importantly, she understands that our work must remain grounded in the people we serve,” she said. Uluqsi was elected president on May 28. Six days later, NTI announced that its previous CEO, Kilikvak Kabloona, was no longer in the position. No details were provided on why that decision was made. An acting-CEO, Hannah Uniuqsaraq, began serving on June 4. Beveridge will begin her term as CEO on Oct. 13.
